To help pay for the costs of this website, I use affiliate links, I display advertising such as Google Ads, and I accept paid adverts. In the interests of transparency, the following explains my policy regarding adverts and earnings.
Adverts that appear on my site through Google’s Adsense programme are not hand-selected. This means I have not reviewed the products and services recommended. The adverts that are shown depend on the content of the page, or products/services you have browsed previously on other websites. Google’s Ads can usually be identified by Google’s ‘Ad Choices’ rectangle within the advert – for example:
Should you click on one of these adverts, I will receive a fee from Google which is paid for by the advertiser – typically a few pence.
Sometimes when I recommend a product, I will be an affiliate for the company whose product I am recommending. This is the case for all of the products within the ‘shop’ and some items mentioned within my blog posts. This means that if you click on one of the links and purchase their product, they will pay me a small amount of commission. This won’t cost you anything extra as the commission is taken out of the regular price of the product. Affiliate links are very common across a huge range of sites that you likely already use – newspapers, magazines, blogs, social media sites etc.
I do not recommend any product purely to earn a commission. All recommendations on this site are personal and made because I genuinely love the product (and in many cases, have it in my own home).
I do accept paid adverts but only for products that I love. All paid adverts comply with Google’s policies (i.e. I do not sell ‘dofollow’ links).
Where I am paid to review a product, or given a product for free in exchange for a review, this will be clearly disclosed within the review and the review will be my honest opinion about the product.
