I found this ugly stag plaque on Sainsbury’s clearance shelf for £1.80 and wanted to do something with it:
So I covered up the stag using card from a cardboard packet and turned it into this cute ‘family plaque’:
Everything is stuck down using matte mod podge. It’s not really as neat as it ought to be and I would do some things differently if I started over. For example, tucking the string under the names was a bad idea – it’s just made the paper stick up. The paper ‘frames’ around the photos aren’t very accurate (they were very fiddly because I added them each in four pieces after I’d stuck everything else down – they would have been much easier to do if I’d just cut out a slightly bigger piece of pretty paper to back each photo, and stuck them down first!), and the photos themselves were printed off using my inkjet printer so they’re not very crisp – I could have ordered proper ones for about 10p!
Still, I like the concept and love having a little shabby chic style plaque to put on the wall with all my family members on.
