This sweet Christmas tree was put together by my creative and super-talented Mum who loves shabby chic, vintage and craft style decorations. The tree is an eclectic mix of styles – everything from shiny baubles and sparkling crystal droplets through to fabric bags, simple sewn adornments and ribbons – but I thought I’d share it as she has some great ideas that I hadn’t thought of – many of which would be very easy to make. I hope you find it inspiring!
I love this simple rustic twisted candy cane heart. You can find similar ones here – UK link / US link
I wouldn’t have thought to put lavender bags on the tree but they look great! My mum loves making them with pretty bits of fabric and ribbons – so I’d take a guess that she made these. They’re quite easy to do – check out this tutorial on Tesco.com (no need to make an inner pouch). You could give your home a lovely festive scent by filling your bags with the right combination of dried fruit and spices – try cinnamon, cloves, star anise, dried oranges and apples.
Ps. Oops! I’m also in this pic!
I think this sweet felt ‘gingerbread’ girl steals the show – and it would be so easy to make!

Another oops – I’m in this one too!
I like making my own felt Christmas tree decorations but there are so many pretty ones to buy too! Here’s a link to find them – UK link / US link
Here’s the finished tree – it’s so pretty! I love the colour scheme, all the decorations and the unconventional touches, like the lavender bags, ribbon and pretty fluffy garland underneath the angel (see below).
The sweet little angel with bead hands and a wooden head crowns the top of the tree. If you still need a fairy to top yours, check out these vintage tree toppers – UK link / US link.
