So I wanted to share this super-pretty shelf that my daughter Jodie painted and decorated. It uses bits and pieces purchased from Hobbycraft but you could of course easily adapt the idea using cheaper materials or scraps from the craft box.
How to make your pretty shelf:
Jodie started with a blank from Hobbycraft which was ready for painting. For the paint, she used two coats of primer/base coat and a few coats of normal Dulux wood paint for a good finish.
Cost of wood blank: £15.00, Hobbycraft
Once painted, you’ll need some pretty card to fill each of the alcoves. Here are the measurements you’ll need:
Jodie chose this beautiful ‘First Edition Beyond the Shore 12 x 12 Inch Paper Pad‘ from Hobbycraft for £15:
There are certainly cheaper options and I’m sure like me, you will have plenty of pretty paper in the craft box – but you DO get 48 sheets, and it is super gorgeous – perfect for the nautical theme!
Here is the beautiful final result:
…and as she lives in Cornwall, she has a good collection of shells collected from the local beaches to fill the shelves!
